About Us

Kent Peterson became interested in carpentry and woodworking initially because of his grandfather and uncle, who were fine home builders with projects principally on Saltspring Island. Kent was the “helper” around the job site and picked up a lot of experience in his formative years. As an adult, Kent completed his education degree and started off teaching but chose to leave that profession and began making furniture, cabinetry, and other woodworking projects and had his own woodworking shop. He gradually moved away from making fine furniture and toward general construction as a sole proprietor and hands-on general contractor of his own company which focuses on residential renovations, including kitchens, baths, garages, decks, additions.

Over the years, Kent has become involved in providing services to property management companies in addition to home owners. Projects have included everything from handyman services, commercial building maintenance, renovations, and tenant improvements. The company also completed a few large-scale projects that involved structural repairs, seismic upgrades, fire separation, building envelope remediation, and balcony repair and replacement. Kent was the person solely responsible for the management and supervision of all larger-scale projects, which required that he draw on his construction experience and expertise, and strong relationships he had built over the years with qualified sub-trades, architects, and engineers.

Kent built his business over the past 20 plus years almost exclusively through referrals. He focuses on ensuring the satisfaction of the client, both as to quality and price, and warranties the work that he does. He believes that clients, employees, and trades should be all be treated with fairness and respect and by doing so, he has fostered loyalty and a commitment to excellence. Kent explains to clients the potential pitfalls and challenges of contemplated designs, and proposes alternatives for them to consider, so that the clients understand the pros and cons of the project and can look at alternatives that may not be their first choice but are ultimately more realistic and cost effective. Kent always ensures that the client is well-informed in terms of time, cost and result. It’s really about listening to the client’s needs and concerns and providing the client the information needed to make an informed decision.
